About Vinyl Banners
Vinyl banners can be printed either single or double-sided onto a variety of substrates including blockout vinyl, mesh vinyl and backlit vinyl. The choice of vinyl, as well as the method of finishing is determined by how the vinyl banner is being used. Vinyl banner finishes include ropes and eyelets, sleeves, kedar to suit sailtrack and anti-graffiti coating can be applied where vandalism could be a problem.
In certain situations, using the incorrect vinyl or finishing method may reduce the lifespan of the banner, therefore it is important to know where and how your banner is being used in order to achieve the best result. With over 25 years’ experience, Selby’s can ensure that your vinyl banners are produced correctly and to the highest standard.

Selby's Artwork Submission Guidelines
To ensure efficient processing and maintain competitive pricing, Selby's requires artwork submissions to adhere to the following specifications. Artwork not meeting these guidelines may incur an additional artwork charge for necessary adjustments by our operators.
1. File Requirements:
- Types: Each product & size must be submitted as a separate file.
- Example: 1 medium teardrop, 1 small teardrop and 1 marquee should each be submitted in a separate file.
- Designs: Multiple designs of the same product & size (including double sided products) need to be in a single multi-page PDF document.
- Example: 20 small teardrops with 3 different designs should be supplied in a single 3-page PDF, 1 page per design.
- Acceptable File Type: We only accept .PDF files. No raw image files (like .jpg, .png, .tiff) or design files (like .ai, .psd) can be submitted directly.
- Raster Images: Please do not submit raw raster files (e.g., .jpg, .png). These must be embedded within a Selby's artwork template and saved as a .pdf before submission.
- Artwork Templates:
- Download templates from our website. Do not change or alter the size.
- If you are unsure which template to use or cannot find the appropriate one, please contact your Selby's representative for assistance.
- Non Template products: For custom size banners and other non template items a standard 50mm bleed on every edge is required.
- Fonts: All text must be outlined or converted to shapes to avoid font compatibility issues.
- Vector Graphics: Where possible, supply artwork in vector format.
2. Colour Specifications:
- Pantone Spot Colours: For specific colour requirements or colour matching services, please ensure Pantone spot colours are clearly specified within your artwork file.
- CMYK Values: While we accept colours supplied as CMYK values, we cannot guarantee exact colour matching due to potential machine and ink variations. Colours provided in CMYK will be printed as supplied.
- Spot Colour Conversion: All named spot colours other than Pantone will be rejected and returned.
- RGB Format: Files submitted in RGB format will be rejected and returned.
3. Image Requirements (Raster Graphics):
- Minimum Resolution: We recommend resolution between 90 to 150 DPI (dots per inch) for all photos and raster images.
- Embedding: All raster images must be embedded within the PDF or AI file. Do not link external raster files.
- Original Rasters (If Unsure): If you are unsure about the embedding process, please include the original raster image file separately along with the templated artwork.
All our Vinyl Banners are custom made and can be manufactured to any size required.
Vinyl Banners can last many years outdoors in the right conditions and when installed correctly (really tight with no movement). If the Vinyl Banner can flap at all, over time it will deteriorate. If it is tight, it will last for a number of years.
There is currently no financially viable recycling technique for Vinyl Banners. However, Vinyl Banners can be upcycled and turned into bags or other products rather than going to landfill.
Vinyl Banners can be produced in very large sizes by joining them together in strips. Our machines print 3200mm wide x 45m long (a standard roll). For larger banners, they would have a welded join, which is virtually invisible.

If you are using your Vinyl Banner in a windy area, we recommend using mesh vinyl stock to allow wind to pass through. This is more effective than cutting wind holes.
